Collaboration Canvas

           For the remixed canvas I chose a biography unit called, "A Biography Study" to correlate with my unit on Language. When designing my remixed canvas I incorporated a video on the importance of using the right words to tell a story in a certain way. I believe this video flows between the two units very well. It goes with the original unit by further explaining certain factors authors take into consideration when writing. It also goes with the second unit on Language by explaining the ways in which specific words and language that authors choose to use can affect a piece of writing. I also included another video about the power of words. This video along with the visuals of the different versions of well known books are important to the remixed-canvas because they emphasize the idea that the same thing can be said in multiple ways despite the language and that people understand certain styles of writing and of language differently than of other styles.I did not change anything in the original canvas because I felt as though that would go against the point of this assignment.

Unit Plan Canvas

          Creating the canvas was confusing at first but became more and more simple as I spent more time playing around with it. In the process of creating it I came across various cool pictures and interesting videos that are seen throughout my canvas. I believe the images I have selected and the videos which I have chosen to use allow my students to envision what I have planned for them. 
          My canvas is an extension of my alphabet lesson plan. It aims to show the importance of not only learning the English language, but also the importance of learning other languages as well. This will allow the students to understand that language acquisition is not meant to be so much assessed as it is to be naturally acquired and exciting. This canvas will also work to give insight to the students as to why English should not be the only language they ever learn. By the end of the unit my students will have a maximized understanding that who you are and where in the world you are does not define what language you can speak. They will also understand that even though they will be assigned a grade, they should focus more on truly learning the language through the useful techniques shown in the canvas.This way, their grade will come naturally as they learn naturally.
